If you were wondering why no classes were held on the first of February that would be because our university was observing the Commemoration Ceremony of Saint Paul’s Conversion held at the centre of Valencia.
This occasion is a deeply rooted tradition at University CEU Cardenal Herrera as Saint Paul is the patron saint of the CEU foundation, Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU, which our university is also a part of. For this reason a ceremony is held every year as we celebrate our community.
The ceremony started with a mass held by the Archbishop of Valencia and then continued with an academic act held at Palau de la Música. During the act awards and prizes were presented to the academic staff and students, among them this year Head of International Relations Alfonso Díaz for his teaching work at the Technical School. New doctors were also invested with their new titles during the ceremony and awards to the best thesis were given to new PhD holders.
The ceremony ended with a speech by Rosa Visiedo, Rector of University CEU Cardenal Herrera, in which she highlighted some of the institution’s latest achievements, placing a special emphasis on our sense of community. “A community with over 9200 students, 1700 of whom are international”, stated the Rector in her final words, which clearly reflects our commitment to internationalization.
