This international accreditation opens up career opportunities for Medicine graduates from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They can now apply directly for medical specialty training programmes in these countries.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University has received the International Quality Label from ANECA, meaning that the degree has been recognized as conforming to the quality standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
This international recognition opens up new career opportunities for CEU UCH Medicine graduates, as they are now eligible for specialization programmes in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In order to practise medicine in the USA, it is also essential to have graduated from a WFME-recognized medical school.
High-quality international training
The World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) was founded in 1972 in order to establish common principles and standards for medical education. More recently, this international body has developed a global recognition programme for the accreditation of basic medical education. In Spain, this takes the form of the International Quality Label, awarded by ANECA, the government agency for quality assurance in higher education.
“This recognition demonstrates the international dimension and excellence of the training our Medicine graduates receive at CEU UCH, standing alongside initiatives such as our USA Clinical Placements Programme, which was launched last year,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Verónica Veses.
The USA Clinical Placements Programme is a ground-breaking programme in Spain, enabling CEU UCH medical students to undertake clinical rotations at prestigious hospitals and healthcare centres in Chicago and New York.
AUDIT-certified
The Dean also remarked that the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine at CEU UCH “provides outstanding training, and its quality is guaranteed by our internal quality assurance system, which has bee certified by ANECA via its international AUDIT procedure.” This certification demonstrates the quality and transparency of CEU UCH’s Faculty of Health Sciences, in recognition of the fact that it meets the AUDIT criteria set by ANECA (ANECA), which are aligned with the criteria and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
“ANECA’s international AUDIT certification of the Faculty shows that we comply with quality assurance criteria at both the national and European levels,” the Dean said.
Finally, the Dean also wished to thank all of the students, lecturers and administration and service staff for their contribution to achieving ANECA’s International Quality Label and meeting the standards set by the World Federation for Medical Education.
