CEU-UCH veterinary students attended the conference hosted by Vidal. At this conference she spoke about her personal and professional experience at the Universities of Florida and California UCDavis.
Gema Vidal Fabuel, former student at the Veterinary Medicine Faculty at CEU Cardenal Herrera University, met with students and shared her experiences of her time at the Universities of Florida and UCDavis, which is the prestigious University of California where she currently works as a veterinary resident.
Gema Videl graduated from CEU-UCH in 2000. Between 2002 and 2006 she worked on large cattle farms as an associate professor of veterinary medicine. In 2007 she worked at the Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Centre (Tulare, California) for a short time. In 2009 she was chosen to work as a veterinarian at FARMS (Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service) at the University of Florida. Currently she is veterinary resident at the University of California-Davis (UCDavis), a position she has held since 2010.
Vidal emphasised the positives of her international experience to the students, who filled the Aula Magna at the university, “an experience that has led to personal and professional growth” and that has also opened a window into work as a veterinary resident in the US. She stressed that “other than a degree, success depends on oneself, on personal motivation. There is no one answer for everyone, but I encourage you to seek out opportunities.”
Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Ángel García, hosted this conference with the aim of motivating young students. She also aimed to introduce them, through first hand personal experience, to the ways in which systems of residence in Faculties of Veterinary Medicine function in the USA.
Gemma Vidal has subsequently offered another conference at the Veterinary Faculty focused on the most common problems encountered at Cattle Clinics.
