University professors from across Europe will be able to take part in the conferences that will take place to enable them to exchange teaching strategies and sustainability projects for both disciplines.

The Portuguese architect and professor, Manuel Aires Mateus and the Professor of Design at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Miguel Bruns are among the guest speakers.

Under the slogan, “From the Local to the Global Thinking Project. Designing a Sustainable World “, the CEU-UCH´s  College of Technical Education, has arranged the first International Architecture and Design week, ” the ESET International Week “, in collaboration with the Office of Research and the International Relations office. The program is open to any professors belonging to a European university, and applies to the Erasmus Staff Mobility Grant.

This week of events is also part of the celebrations commemorating both the 25th anniversary of Design Education, which the CEU was responsible of pioneering on an international scale and the tenth anniversary since the studies of Architecture were first introduced to the CEU Cardenal Herrera University.

Planned activities and guest speakers
From January 28th to February 1st, 2013, the European teachers taking part in the week´s events, may attend a full program of; lectures and open conferences, thematic workshops and specialized classes, presentations of findings and public analysis meetings, and will also be able to take part in a variety of visits to the city of Valencia. Among the guest speakers leading the conferences are; the Portuguese architect and professor of architecture, Manuel Aires Mateus and the Professor of Design at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Miguel Bruns.

The program of activities arranged for the week, is aimed at promoting the exchange of teaching approaches and the distribution of different design strategies among European teachers of Architecture and Design. Understanding the local situation of a place and its interaction with global design strategies, forms the basis upon which a realistic estimation of a sustainable and respectful future can be made, taking into consideration the physical, cultural and economic reality, from a design and architecture perspective.

Besides sharing teaching strategies and methodologies about both theoretical and practical matters, the ESET International Week, will also allow approaches and strategies for generating sustainable designs to be shared out, as well as illustrating the comparisons between different local situations; reflecting the potential synergies and points of contact between those taking part.

For the European professors wishing to take part in the event, the deadline for the submitting entries is October 26th. The candidates selected will be announced on November 9th.
