52 researchers from 15 EU countries, Russia and the United States were involved in this COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology

The “COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology” action brings together researchers and experts from at least five different European countries who work on specific common topics. The COST delegation in the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness has proposed that the researcher from CEU Cardenal Herrera University, Antonio Falco, joins the management committee of COST in which the European Model Reduction NETwork participates. This COST action consists of 52 researchers from 15 EU countries, plus Russia and the United States.

The main motivation behind this research is the growing complexity of the mathematical models used to predict real-world systems, such as the weather or the human cardiovascular system. Researchers in this area are devoted to the development of systematic algorithms for the replacement of these complex models with much more simple ones. These models still accurately capture the most important aspects of the phenomena that attempt to approximate.

52 researchers from Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and two countries that are not part of the COST actions such as the Russian Federation and the United States participated, along with Antonio Falcó, a professor from CEU-UCH, in the COST action.

Areas of COST Actions

The European COST Actions are organised in nine thematic areas: biomedicine and molecular biosciences; chemical and molecular sciences and technologies, earth sciences and environmental management , food and agriculture, forests and their products and services; city, society, culture and health; information technology and communication; material sciences, physical sciences and nanosciences and transportation and urban development.
