Dentists and stomatologists of the Spanish Society of Oral Surgery (SECIB) have attended the conference of the coordinator of the CEU Master in Oral Implantology, which was at “full capacity”

Reviewing the fundamentals of maxillary sinus reconstruction has been the main objective of the webinar offered by Professor Dr. Isidoro Cortell, coordinator of the Master in Oral Implantology from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University.

Organized by the Spanish Society of Oral Surgery (SECIB), the webinar has allowed the participants to review this complete technique: the anatomy of the sinus, surgery indications, preoperative evaluation, surgical techniques, complications and different alternatives.

The CEU-UCH professor recalled that for more than 30 years “the elevation of the maxillary sinus has been a fundamental surgical technique for the rehabilitation of the posterior area of the upper jaw through the placement of osseointegrated implants”.

The sinus lift is a useful and predictable surgical intervention for the rehabilitation of atrophic upper jaws, which consists of separating the sinus membrane from the maxillary bone and filling the space created with a bone graft that allows new bone formation and the subsequent insertion of osseointegrated implants.

The prevention and management of possible intra- and postoperative complications has been one of the most important aspects of the conference.

Oral Surgery and Buccofacial Implantology are dental specialties that require adequate postgraduate training to be able to develop treatment in daily practice with guarantees.

For this reason, the CEU-UCH launched the Master in Oral Implantology, with the aim of training specialists in the planning and execution of the different surgical and implant procedures2
