She’s a qualified veterinarian, a specialist in Molecular Virology and a lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University. The COVID-19 pandemic inspired Consuelo Rubio Guerri to focus on the global health crisis caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Her design of a low-cost PCR test attracted funding from the regional innovation agency, the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación, and was selected by the regional research and innovation system, the Sistema Valenciano de Innovación e Investigación, as part of the response to the COVID-19 emergency. Now, Consuelo Rubio is one of four people shortlisted for an award in the science category of the Premios Talento Joven 2021, organized by Levante-EMV and Bankia.
The awards ceremony takes place on 11th February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, when we’ll find out who the winner is. Good luck, Chelo, you deserve it!
