The Technical School of Design, Architecture and Engineering of CEU UCH has brought together this February experts of architecture of different nationalities to share their points of view on integration of architecture and landscape, focusing on the improvement of the environment. Students from the Rice School of Architecture in Houston joined this international week of Architecture together with the students of CEU UCH. Architects from the studios of Norman Foster in London and Wiel Arets Architects, with headquarters in Amsterdam and Zurich, have participated in these sessions to advise the students as they work on their proposals for a real case: the integration of architecture and landscape in the city of Cuenca.

During this International Week the students of Architecture at CEU UCH have developed their projects of architectural integration in the landscape of Cuenca under the direction of the invited experts of different nationalities. The first phase of work was done with the contributions of Professor Carmina Gheorghita, from the School of Architecture in Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, Romania, and with those of Lluis Juan, from the Rice School of Architecture in Houston, United States, who accompanied a group of students from this North American school participating in the International Week at CEU UCH.

International architects

The last session for the development of the projects was led by two architects who studied at CEU UCH and today work in international architecture studios: José Alamar, who works in the team of Norman Foster in the studio Foster + Partners in London, and Amelia Perea, who works in the studio Wiel Arets Architects (WAA) with headquarters in Amsterdam and Zurich.

Both international professionals led a work session for the students of CEU UCH to finalise their proposals of landscaping and architecture that are to be presented today, on the 17th of February, to a jury of professionals who will choose the proposal that offers the best solution for architectural integration in the landscape for the introduced case in Cuenca. With this activity the students can combine the international points of view of the different experts who participated in the iWeek with a real and nearby case.

The International Week of Architecture in CEU UCH was organised by the Vice-Director of the degree Ignacio Juan and the Professors Andrés Ros and Ana Ábalos.
