CEU Cardenal Herrera University (CEU-UCH) since 2007 has been promoting scientific discussion sessions<\/strong>, or Journal Clubs, where recently published journal articles that are of special scientific interest and of relevance to the society are shared. The Vice-Rectorate of Investigation and International Relations<\/a> decided to rename these sessions as CEU Descubre<\/strong> (CEU Discover) and to intensify their contents, the goal being to disseminate the scientific activities at CEU-UCH among its students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This new channel for diffusion of science<\/strong> will schedule scientific talks<\/strong> for all degrees at CEU-UCH, which will be given by our own as well as external researchers and will alternate between general and specialised ones. Researchers will share their investigative activity with their students<\/strong>, diffuse scientific advances by research groups at CEU-UCH among their areas of knowledge, and encourage scientific careers among students.<\/p>\n

One research talk will be organised each week for one of the degrees at CEU-UCH; the total number of talks per degree in a year will be four. The Department of Corporate Communication will go through the usual channels to inform about these talks (the university\u2019s website, billboards, social networks). More content in relation to the subject of these talks might be diffused afterwards, especially so as to inform the public and the media.<\/p>\n

In the opinion of Enrich Poch<\/a>, the professor coordinator of these research talks, CEU Descubre<\/strong> will promote \u201cthe exchange of information and the formation of new collaborations; not only between research groups at CEU-UCH, but also between these and external groups so as to increase the university\u2019s research activity and improve its position in international rakings. The aim is improving the scientific background of the populace<\/strong>, boosting the prestige of science, and working on the recognition that science deserves in society.<\/p>\n

First CEU Descubre sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The CEU Descubre<\/strong> project kicked off with a research talk at the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences. Professors Pappous (University of Kent), de L\u00e9s\u00e9leuc (INS HEA, Paris) and Solves<\/a> (UCH) at the international seminar \u2018Challenges of research on disability, communication and sport\u2019<\/a>, which took place at CEU-UCH, detailed the results they obtained from their research<\/strong>. They also took a look at existing research areas, as well as potential ones that emerged over the course of this international seminar, which was organized by the Research Group for Disability and Communication (GIDYC).<\/p>\n

Two more CEU Descubre research talks<\/strong> will take place this week, both organised by Juan Cuervo Arango, CEU-UCH professor and researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine<\/a>. Today, Professor Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez Gassent, affiliated to the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, hold the first one, titled \u2018Resuscitation and veterinary attention to new-born animals\u2019. Junior resident at the CEU-UCH Veterinary Hospital Susana Ferrer Mas, who holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from our university, will hold the second research talk on wednesday. It will be on exotic pets, which require certificates and legal documents many owners are unaware of.<\/p>\n
